EXPROMPT
The Art of Sound
With their traditional musical instruments – Domra, Balalaika, and Bayan – they conjure up a stunningly virtuosic, sensitive and inspiring ensemble playing full of soloistic highlights with an irrepressible passion for playing, which is unparalleled - the three musicians of the group EXPROMPT.
The members of the ensemble, founded in 1995 – all of them graduates of the State University of Music - get along with each other at the blink of an eye and offer an amazing repertoire range in their concerts, which goes far beyond the great tradition of Russian folk music. Supported by enchanting arrangements by the Russian composer Mikhail Glinka, Peter Tchaikovsky and Sergey Prokofiev, as well as tangos by Astor Piazzolla, swing by Django Reinhardt or pieces by Mozart or Paganini will be heard.
EXPROMPT impressively demonstrates the surprising possibilities that a traditional instrument set can offer when creativity, security of musical taste and courage for new shores are at work. In addition, there is the ability of the four actors to musically express feelings such as joie de vivre, sadness, love, melancholy and to let the listener participate in them. It is therefore not surprising that this group has been awarded prestigious prizes at international music competitions, including the first prize of the Italian “Citta di Castelfidardo“ and the international tango music competition "Astor Piazzolla". EXPROMPT received the European Folk Music Prize "Eiserner Eversteiner" in 2008.
